Exciting opportunity in The Climbing Hangar!

Ahead of the launch of our epic new 24,000+ ft Southampton site, we’re looking for passionate Duty Managers to join our brand-new climbing facility. The Climbing Hangar in a nutshell is thrilling climbing, great music, and an amazing café to kick back to with friends.

With heart-pounding climbs at every grade, we offer indoor climbing for everybody. It doesn't matter who you are, or how hard you climb, you'll get the same warm welcome at The Hangar.

While we believe indoor climbing is as much about "play" as it is about "progress", we'll have plenty of toys here for hardcore climbers, including Campus boards; Hangboards; a 50° Kilter Board; 40° Tension Board. There is something for everyone.

 

The Role

As a Duty Manager, you are key in supervising the daily operations of the site, alongside curating a fantastic service to our customers and upholding our company values. You will ensure every experience exceeds expectations and contribute to a positive team environment. What you’ll be doing:

Daily Operations – Oversees the daily operations of the bouldering wall, café and retail areas from the opening and closing of the facility.

Exceptional Customer Service – Greeting customers and answering any queries they may have - customer engagement is key; we strive to create a welcoming environment.

Health & Safety – Ensure health and safety standards – routine cleaning and maintenance tasks throughout the site.

Induction/Coaching – Confident in inducting new customers and providing coach support to groups of both adults and children.

Administration – Support the management team with administration duties such as social media content, stock management, staff rotas, customer feedback and staff performance.

Staff Supervision – Supervise colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of climbing sessions, classes, events, and competitions by assisting with setup, registration and class delivery.

Food Preparation & Quality Control: Oversee the preparation of sandwiches, toasties, and other café items, ensuring high standards of taste, presentation, and consistency.

Food Health & Safety: Maintain excellent food hygiene practices, keeping the café clean, safe, and compliant with regulations to help guarantee the safety of your entire team and customers.

Barista – Get to know your way around coffee, café duties will be expected but you will be taught everything you need to know – so don’t be too daunted by this.

 

Ideal Candidate

  • Passion or genuine interest in climbing is highly desirable!
  • Previous experience in a supervisory/managerial role is a must
  • Barista experience is a bonus!
  • Strong leadership – you can create a supportive work environment for everyone
  • Self-motivated and proactive in your work approach
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills – positive first impressions are key!
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays (if required)
