Session duration: 1 hour.

This is a fun session that you can try alone, or in direct competition with a mate. It's also a session you can easily repeat with the aim of improving your personal best.

But in addition to being a game, this session is a great way to work your power endurance. It's progress through play.

Pre-Game Warm Up
Begin with a gentle warm up.
You're going to spend a lot of time on the wall during this hour long session, so you'll want to prime your heart in addition to your body. Focus on loosening up and increasing your heart rate in preparation for the wall.
Once you're ready to get climbing we can begin the "game".
Game Time
Begin with the easiest grade in the centre (and if you're at a Hangar gym that's grey). If you send the first climb without falling off, then it's onto the next grade for your second climb.
If you send your second climb on the first attempt then you move up one grade again. Once you fail to send a climb that's when the game really kicks in, as you'll be forced to drop back to the first grade and begin all over again. The aim is to reach the highest grade possible by the end of the session.

Snakes & Ladders is a fun session to try head to head against a friend: who will reach the highest grade before falling back to the start, and who will be on top come the end of the session.
If you're completing this session alone, aim to reach the best grade possible and then return for another session and go for your PB.
And no cheating if you reach your highest grade. You won't train endurance by simply sitting around and waiting down the clock. Once you've reached the top, try another climb to earn your right to stay at the top. But be warned, if you don't make it, there's a long way back to Grade One.
