You’ll be amazed how naturally kids take to climbing, plus it’s excellent exercise and a great way for them to meet new friends.

Here at the Hangar we’re committed to making sure kids get the most out of their climbing experience with an emphasis on skill development, progression and fun. We always recommend kids come to our junior climber sessions to get to grips with the wall, and of course, we love to encourage families to climb together too!

Check the events page for availability and booking of all our events, classes and coaching sessions.

Weekend clubs

Junior climbers get the wall to themselves on weekends, with sessions running before the doors open. Clubs get kids moving with loads of games and activities to build their strength, stamina and focus without them even noticing! They'll be beating you up the wall in no time.

Taking place between 9 and 10am, Saturday and Sunday:

4-7 yearsPerfect for your little monkeys to take their first steps on the wall. £9.50
8-13 yearsBeginners and more experienced climbers welcome. Sessions have an emphasis on progression and collaboration alongside fun. £9.50
Adult crecheWe'd hate for you to feel left out, so take advantage of quiet walls to indulge in a spot of practice while the kids have fun. We'll even lay on a coach for some guidance. Only open to those bringing kids to the centre - session included in your normal entry price. Just show up on the day and pay at reception.

After School Clubs

A great opportunity for kids to kick back and relax before getting their climb on with their friends after school. They can grab a healthy snack and a drink from the cafe and even do a little of their homework before starting.

After-school clubs are a less formal session than coaching, but the kids will be fully supervised throughout and supported to challenge themselves and get active. More information coming soon.

Self-supervised climbing

If you want to climb with the kids without one of our coaches on hand, you’re welcome to use the centre at any time to climb together or supervise your junior climber’s session.

Make sure you’re aware of our supervision guidelines before visiting and keep everyone safe:

  • Kids aged 4-6 can only climb as part of a kids’ club. On occasion exceptional juniors who show great potential in a coached session will be invited to be assessed for adult-supervised climbing to support their skills development.
  • Kids aged 7+ who are coming to kids clubs don’t need to be inducted – we’ll take care of this at their session. But if you’re new to climbing and you want to supervise your child you must attend an induction (experienced climbers will just need to be signed off at reception).
  • Kids aged 7+ must be supervised at a ratio of no more than two children to one adult. If you don’t have enough adults with you to supervise the group effectively we will need to ask you to leave.
  • Supervision is an active process – you should be able to see and be within earshot of your kids at all times, if not on the mats with them. Kids who appear ‘unsupervised’ may be asked to leave
  • Young climbers aged 14-17 can climb unsupervised providing a parent or guardian has signed a waiver (you will need to visit the centre for their first climb to do this) and centre staff have assessed them as competent.
